Simply Saturday

-tons of laundry
-normal housework duties
-clean out refrigerator--BBQ sauce exploded in there!
-make a few pans of cinnamon rolls
-filling raised beds with peat moss, compost, manure and soil
-making more raised beds to fill with transplanted strawberry babies
-planting cabbage, broccoli, spinach, lettuce 1 and lettuce 2
-scrubbing all the red dirt off the porch
-grilling burgers and veggies
-ironing clothes for tomorrow
-lesson plans

What does a typical Saturday look like at your house?  It's not so simple, is it?

Oh how I relate! LOL

Someone wrote a comment on my personal Facebook page today saying that unlike me and other SAHMs who don't have any chores to do on Saturdays because we finish everything during the week (LOL ) because she works outside the home she has to do chores like cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry and such on Saturdays.

I shared with her our list of things to do on Saturdays. We have Saturday morning homekeeping chores for everyone--we are mentoring our young children with this area, laundry (a couple loads a day keeps the stinkies away!), working in the yard, planning planting, and then after packing a family picnic we went to the park to let the kids run off some energy, took a family walk around the park lake, did some nature study and discussion, drove by our new church, assisted our 8 yr old with traveling math questions in the car while we drove (we live in the country and a drive to the store and park is about 12 miles each way) when we returned I started dinner, check my blog work, while youngest lay down for a nap, husband is working in his office, and then its time for dinner, followed by kitchen cleanup and preparations for family movie night with popcorn and lemonade, followed by baths for everyone, laying out clothes for morning church, family devotions at bedtime, then time with hubby and me before we head to bed for the night...

I don't know...as a SAHM I guess my Saturdays ARE pretty quiet.

Thanks for sharing your day...I may have to join this party next week...sounds like fun! And a great reality check for all of us!

Building Home with Him,

Mary Joy
