Chicken Scratch

Look over on the right to '"like" Busy Hands Busy Minds on Facebook.  Sometimes I even post giveaways just for Facebook  followers!  But come back over and finish reading this post!!

Here's an early morning look at our little flock of chickens.  We now have 22 young chickens that will soon reside in a permanent coop making room in the chicken tractors for our meat birds.  We have Buff Orpingtons, Cuckoo Marans and Americanas.  Click on the names of the birds to find out more about each particular breed.

The Americanas lay "Easter egg" colored eggs....greens and blues!

Wait your turn, ladies!  The Cuckoo Marans are rare birds and lay chocolate colored eggs.

It appears the buff likes to stand on the feeder to eat!  The Buffs are prolific layers and lay light brown eggs.

We are having fun watching the chickens and can't wait to move them to their permanent home.  Jackson loves them and likes to hold them.  He and Kaelan will most likely take over chicken chores when they get in a coop.  Right now Aaron feeds and waters them twice a day and also moves the chicken tractor twice a day.
